I thought I'd post quickly to let everyone know that we're back home. I called Wayne last night to ask him if he thought I'd be able to transfer my plane tickets to tomorrow and he didn't think so. I promised him I'd do my best to make it home today, as long as Isaac could tolerate the trip. That poor baby was in no condition to be out and about today, but we did it. We are home. He was sick about 5 times today before 8:00 AM. AND - it was starting to come out the other end as well. I won't get too graphic, okay Dad! At that point, I was feeling pretty uneasy about flying with him. But, nurse Sandi (AKA...my mom) took control of the situation.
Mom had some suppositories for nausea and vomiting, so she looked up in her pharmaceutical book to see what the dosage would be for a child Isaac's age and weight. We gave him 1/4th of a suppository and man did that do the trick. She said it should last 6-8 hours and that was just enough time to get us home. It worked like a charm.
We made it from Cleveland to Chicago with no problems. Isaac slept about half the flight and fussed on and off the other half. But, who could blame him. He was having some horrific gas (which I'm sure the man next to me enjoyed) so I think he must have been having gas pains. Upon landing in Chicago, we got right to our next gate and boarded our second plane to Bloomington. He was awake most of this flight, but it was less than 40 minutes long. He was pretty good and all the ladies around us thought he was the cutest thing ever. I agreed...of course! He pretty much rested the entire drive home from Bloomington.
Since getting home, he has gotten sick once out of each end, but that's it. He seems a bit dehydrated tonight, but that is probably because he has vomited about 12 times in the past day and a half and has hardly eaten anything. He hasn't had any baby food and only nursed about 4-5 times total today for less than 2 minutes each time.
I'll try to update tomorrow to let you know how Isaac is feeling. I'm hoping he is better. Otherwise, I'm calling the doctor on call at our office. He's just to young to be vomiting so much.
