I WON!

I'm so excited and relieved! I submitted my claim to the airline a few weeks ago. I asked to be reimbursed for the clothes and cell phone charger I had to buy to get me through for a few days at my parents before I drove back to IL. I also needed reimbursed for the dresses that were taken out of our luggage. Usually, the airlines only reimburse up to 50% for items purchased to do delayed baggage and any other items are reimbursed at a depreciated value.

In my letter, I basically told them that I thought that stinks that they only give you 50% for items you purchase when your luggage is missing. I was basically left in Ohio with no clothes or toiletries, except for the clothes on my back and a few carry on items. I had no choice but to buy a few things. I also explained that the dresses that were taken were brand new bought specifically for my trip and I wanted the full retail amount back since they hadn't had time to loose value.

So, I got a letter from United and the mail and they went through their policy and then said they were making an exception in my case and that a check for the full amount requested should arrive shortly. I'm so relieved. I would have rather never been through this entire event, but happy that the airline is taking care of the problem.
