Back on again

One electrician and $200 later and our electric in the basement is fixed. I was hoping the electrician could come yesterday afternoon, but they weren't able to come until this morning.

They were concerned about a loose (open) wire in the circuit, which can start an electrical fire. So, they had someone from the company call me and explain to me how to shut down the power to my basement so that if it was indeed an open in the circuit my house wouldn't burn down! I asked him "So, what are the odds of an electrical fire starting with this type of problem." His response was "well mam, that is very unpredictable. It could be like this for 100 years and nothing happen or your house could burn down in an hour." Very comforting. Especially since Wayne has been on a business trip all week.

You wouldn't expect to have electrical problems in a 4 year old home...but, then again, they don't build them like they used to. So this was our problem in my own official electrical terms. Sorry dad if I get any of this wrong. HA HA!

We had a loose neutral in the first outlet of the circuit causing the rest of of the circuit to short. We also, possibly, had a faulty breaker, which has been replaced with a new one. We *think* the problem is fixed and only time will tell.

Everything seems to be up and running just fine now. Isaac has been a pretty good boy again today and he slept all night last night without waking up. I'm thankful for that. We went on a walk this morning and then ran a few errands. My neighbor is coming over in about an hour while I go get a haircut. I'm long past due!
