Bad New Habits

So, I think I've mentioned before how Isaac isn't the easiest child...right. Seriously, I'm beginning to think that twins were easier than just him. He's got the worst temper. The past few days have been a bit miserable for all of us because he's picked up some terrible new habits!

He's been going to sleep great for over a year now. Seriously, we believe in teaching our kids to self sooth themselves to sleep from a very early age. For a long time we've just been putting him to bed awake and he goes to sleep. Well, starting 2 nights ago, he has begun screaming terribly almost every time we put him down for bedtime or a nap. It's been awful. This is something I've never experienced with a child at this age, so it's been a real challenge trying to figure out what to do to calm him down without letting him think this is a routine we are going to continue. I think what I'm doing is starting to work because he didn't cry at naptime today.

He's also been throwing some massive tantrums lately. He started throwing temper tantrums well before his first birthday, which seemed young to me. But, like I said before, he's always been a temperamental child. Well, starting this weekend, he is head banging. He will get upset and then start slamming his head into whatever is nearby...even the ceramic tile on the kitchen floor. I'm beside myself about this. I've always ignored tantrums, but I can't ignore this. He is going to really hurt himself. His poor forehead is bruised some from yesterday. I'm going to need to buy him a helmet! I've been doing some searching on the internet about this today so I'm hoping to learn about why kids do this and what I can do about it.

Sorry for my vents today. I know all of this is a phase and it will pass. I'm just frustrated today and having one of those moments we all go through as moms. But, I'll survive!

On the brighter side...Connor and Lindsey's team one their soccer game this week with a score of 5-0. They had lost the first 2 games. They are also doing fantastic in school so far and I'm really impressed with how well they are reading. They seem to be enjoying first grade, but Lindsey has said it's not as fun as Kindergarten because there is lots more work.
