Thumb + Cabinet = Boo Boo!

Isaac is now missing most of the nail on his thumb. A few weeks ago, he slammed a bathroom cabinet drawer into his thumb. He instantly got a blood blister under the nail, which popped, bled and seemed to recover. Apparently it was worse than I thought because when he woke up yesterday, I realized that his thumb nail was completely detached from his finger except at the cuticle. I called the doctor to see if I should cut the nail down, wrap it with a bandaid or what to do because I was concerned with him snagging it on something and pulling it off and hurting himself more. She told me to keep it trimmed down to just below the finger tip and put a new bandaid around it each day. Well, that worked for about 25 minutes until he pulled the bandaid off with his teeth and started choking on it. After his nap, I realized that the nail was pulling off at the cuticle and sticking out pretty far. So, after discussing it with the doctor, I clipped the nail off down to just above the cuticle. Gross! This morning, it looks pretty bad and it won't surprise me if the entire nail falls off within the next few days. Hopefully he didn't damage the cuticle to the point that a new nail won't grow back. it's just wait and see right now.

Nothing else exciting to report for today. Wayne leaves tomorrow afternoon to go to Minnesota for the Ohio State vs. Minnesota game with Eric. He's looking forward to that. Laura and the girls are coming down for the weekend since both our hubbies will be gone. I'm going to the kids school tomorrow to help out in the afternoon during Isaac's nap. I'm looking forward to that. I haven't been there yet this year and I really enjoy being there. The kids seem so happy to have me at their class.
