Wow - when you think you are going to have a simple, easy day it all gets turned upside down. Yesterday seems like a whirlwind from beginning to end!
While playing on the playground at Preschool yesterday, another little girl was running and accidently stuck her finger right in the center of Lindsey's eye. I went to pick her up and since she seemed pretty upset, I scheduled an appointment in the afternoon with our Pediatrician. They looked at her eye using a special dye and ultraviolet light and right away saw a huge tear on Lindsey's cornea. So, they sent us immediately to an eye doctor. He did the same test and was amazed at the size of the tear. He couldn't believe what a trooper Lindsey was being. She wasn't crying or anything, anymore and he said he's seen grown men on their knees crying in pain from this same injury. I guess our little girl has a high pain tolerance. They checked her vision in that eye and it was only at 20/40 yesterday afternoon, so I was a little concerned. Corneal tears are extremely painful, but luckily they heal extremely fast! We have antibiotic drops to prevent infection and lubricating drops to help with discomfort. The eye doctor said within the first 24-36 hours, the first layer of epathelia (sp?) should be back and within a week to 2 weeks, the entire thinkness of the cornea should be back to normal. She goes back tomorrow morning to the eye doctor to make sure that first layer is back in tact and recheck her vision.
And...if that wasn't enough...today she fell on the driveway and landed forehead first on the pavement. I heard her poor little head hit the concrete from like 8 feet away. So, now for the next several hours I have to watch her for a concussion. GEEZ!! Poor kid. She was running to bring me some flowers she picked.
My neighbor, Doug, is still hospitalized today. He did indeed have a stroke and has some left side impairment right now. Hopefully that will improve some today. We continue to keep him and his family in our prayers.
I had an OB/GYN appointment this morning. It was a busy morning...I had a glucose test, ultrasound and regular appointment with the doctor. My ultrasound was great. Great news, too...my placenta has moved!!! So, no more placenta previa for me. But, the baby is breech again. This kid is such a little wiggly one. He just can't stay in one place. Lindsey went to my appointment with me because I didn't want to send her back to Preschool today with all her eye drops. She was so well behaved and loved the ultrasound. The ultrasound tech was pointing out all the babies body parts to her and she just smiled and smiled! She can't wait to be a big sister.
