The kids and I are at the hotel near our new house. Wayne got stuck behind with the movers. They have been moving at a snails pace the past 3 days. It's been a little frustrating. I do appreciate having movers and not having to pack ourselves. But, we've moved several times so we know what to typically expect. Last time, they had us packed and loaded in under 2 days. Today is day 3 and they are working LATE to get finished up. They are supposed to unload us at the new house tomorrow morning, so they have to finish up tonight. I just talked to Wayne and he thinks they might be about done...he hopes! He still has to drive about 2 hours to get to the hotel to meet up with us. They have requested another person to help unload tomorrow and I hope they get him. Otherwise, we'll probably be in a hotel again tomorrow night.
The closing tomorrow has been filled with drama due to the appraisal not being right and the paperwork not getting to the underwriter in time...yada, yada, yada. I've learned that nothing ever goes right with a closing. This is our 4th closing. Wanna know how many of them have gone off without a hitch??? One! It's ridiculous. So, we are having a "dry closing" whatever that means. I think Wayne explained it as we will sign all the paperwork, but the funds won't be wired to the seller for another day or two. We are still getting possession of the house tomorrow and that is really all we care about at this point.
Connor and Lindsey finished up at their school today. They had a great going away party. We had cupcakes and ice cream. They kids gave away treat bags full of candy, toys, a picture of themselves and a self addressed stamped envelope so their friends could send them a letter. They also sang them "Happy Last Day To You" to the tune of happy birthday. It was so sweet. The kids gave lots of hugs at the end of the day and it brought tears to my eyes. They have some great friends at school and I really think they will be missed.
Well, all the kids are finally in bed. I'm going to find a good TV show and enjoy my last bit of peace and quiet until my new house is unpacked...
