WE'RE HERE!!!

AND - We've already been to the ER!

This past week has been exhausting, exciting and eventful! We are in the new house and are mostly unpacked. Wayne still needs to finish going through the garage, but things are really looking good. What a relief! We couldn't have done it without A LOT of help! Thanks so much to Mary and Laura for helping us with our kids the past few days. Mary watched Isaac on Thursday and then had Connor and Lindsey over to play quite a bit on Friday and Saturday. Laura came and picked Isaac up on Thursday evening and kept him until today. That really enabled us to get most of the house unpacked and cleaned.

The house has been a bit frustrating, so far. We bought a brand new house and maybe rushed the builder to get it finished. The exterior is far from being done, as I've mentioned before. The inside is mostly finished, but there are many little details that need to be fixed up still. However, we've been very disappointed with the plumbing work. On Thursday, the dishwasher got bumped and turned on spilling water all over the kitchen floor. The plumber came to fix that on Friday. Then, this morning we woke up to have the hot water pipes frozen to about 1/3 of the house. So, on Monday someone is coming to re insulate the pipes, I guess. The builder told us he fired the plumber today and won't be working with him on any future homes. It's been frustrating. Hopefully we won't continue having problems like this.

I'll try to get some house pictures up in the next few weeks.

Today was Isaac's first trip to the hospital emergency room. I say "first" because I'm sure it won't be his last. He's so accident prone. He's already lost a finger nail, chipped 3 teeth and busted his lip 4 times in the past month! He's ALL BOY! Anyway, Laura called this morning telling me not to panic, but Isaac fell and hit his face on the coffee table and she was pretty sure he needed stitches. After some discussion between Laura, myself, a neighbor of hers and my mom, I told her to bring him back home and we'll take him to the ER. So, she and I took him to the hospital and they said it was good we brought him there. They wanted to use stitches because it wasn't a clean tear, but in order to do that he would need sedated. He had just eaten about an hour before that, so they couldn't sedate him and didn't want to wait several hours. The only other way to do the stitches would be to numb him and hold him down for several minutes and I really didn't like that idea. So, they decided to use the Dermabond glue and do their best to line it up right. I guess only time will tell what type of scar it leaves behind. It doesn't seem to bother him at all, but it is pretty swollen and discolored this evening. Here a picture of our poor little guy.

Tell your contractor to check into a device called Redytemp. It installs without the need to call a plumber. It's unique in that it protects pipes from freezing from the inside-out. We had a time when we worried about frozen water pipes every other day. But, since we got our Redytemp installed, the threat is gone and we no longer wait for hot water at all our sinks as an added benefit.
