HOME for the Holidays!

Sweet little Lindsey...on the way to Gymnastics last night we were talking about the Holidays and I told her that Christmas was only 7 days away. I asked her if she was getting excited, which of course she said "Yes!" I told her I was excited too because the day after Christmas Grandma & Grandpa are coming (my parents) to stay for a few days. Then, after they leave, Papa Sinks and Madonna (Wayne's dad and wife) are coming to stay for a few days. She asks "Are we not going anywhere at all this year?" I told her "no, everyone is coming here this year." She yelled "Yes!" She was so happy and I could tell that she was so relieved to get to spend her Christmas break at home this year. She was so funny...she even said "I'm glad we're staying home. We always just ended up sick anyway from all that traveling around."

This is the first year since their very first Christmas that we didn't travel at all. The first year, they were only a few months old and there was just no way we were traveling with them. Last year, we didn't make the trip to visit my family because they offered to come to us, but we still had to go to Wayne's families house. I know we will miss all the family holiday gatherings, but it's nice to be able to relax and enjoy Christmas without all the travel and exhaustion. My poor kids spent 5 straight Christmas Eves/Christmas Mornings in the car and that's just not fair to little kids. Also, like Lindsey said, someone always ended up sick in the end. Thanks Mom for encouraging us to start our own family traditions and give up holiday travel.

So, to our families that we won't see this holiday season...We'll miss you, but we hope you understand.
