My right foot has been bothering me for about 6 weeks, but the past 2 weeks it has gotten pretty bad. So, on Monday, I finally called the ortho doctor and made an appointment. Well, after walking yesterday it was throbbing so bad that I called to see if I could get in any sooner. I still had another week to wait. To my surprise, they got me in yesterday afternoon. I was really afraid that I had a stress fracture. Luckily, I do not! However, I do have moderate tendinitis. I feel like I learned so much about my foot yesterday...LOL! I have several problems leading to this tendinitis. First of all, I have an extremely high arch in my feet, which I've always known about. I have always gotten terrible arch cramps when I walk or exercise if I don't put arch supports in my shoes. Also, I have very limited flexibility in my right ankle due to a bad ankle break when I was a child. Those 2 things combined are causing my foot to work improperly causing my tendons to be inflamed.
So, now I'm doing stretches for my ankle, taking anti inflammatory meds for the tendinitis, icing 2 times a day and going back in a week or so to get fitted for orthopedic inserts to wear when I'm walking or exercising. Lucky me that insurance will NOT cover these inserts and they will cost me $425! Oh well, I only get one pair of feet, right?
I promised Wayne no walking for the next few days and we'll see if I can get this foot pain to ease up some. I usually start out the day feeling pretty good, but it gets worse as the day goes on...
